This week

This week we are starting the First Annual TPS Christmas Sidewalk Film Festival! I am really excited about this project and think the students are going to really enjoy making these films and learn a lot through the process. We are working on our ideas and forming our groups this week. I am sending home a letter for parents to sign about this project.

Oct. 4 - Oct. 8

Today we are going to listen to the Homecoming Raps that we made last week! I was impressed with how these turned out and I know we will have a good time listening to them today. Then we will spend the rest of the week working on a keynote presentation about the Gulf Coast Oil Spill. This is something the 8th graders are learning about in their science class, so I think it will be helpful for them to use the information they are learning in my class. I am looking forward to a great week!

GarageBand

This week we are working with GarageBand! Homecoming will be a fun week to learn this program. We are just learning the basics right now and then the students will create a song about Homecoming week! Last week we showed the first John Wooden iMovie project during lunch and the students really liked it!

Numbers

This week we are learning more about Numbers! We will learn how to make all kinds of charts and graphs. This program is very useful and while the 8th graders might not think it is as fun as iMovie it will be a very practical thing for them to know how to use.

This Week

We are just about finished with our John Wooden projects and they look great! I am really proud of the work these students have done. The videos are really funny and I think the students learned a lot about using iMovie!

The first part of this week we are going to finish up a few small projects we have going on including a web search, a worksheet on using the dictionary application and another Keynote presentation. Then we are going to move on to learning more about numbers! It should be a fun week!

John Wooden Projects

This week in class we are working on our John Wooden character trait videos. The students are responsible for making a two minute iMovie about one of John Wooden's character traits in his Pyramid of Success. The students will use cameras to shoot the video, upload it on iMovie and then edit and create a short film.
